We have previously highlighted some of the advances that are being made in eLearning. Recently Khan Academy caught our eye. It’s a website that sports over 2200 videos covering a large variety of topics from math, physics, chemistry, finance, world history and many many more.
The site is completely free and provides a very useful service to just about anybody who wants to learn something. We’re convinced something like this might just be the start of an academic revolution! They are already running some pilot projects in Palo Alto in collaboration with some schools: according to Sal (the brains, and sole faculty member of KA), “the teachers have flipped the courses,” meaning that they let the students watch the lectures at home and use class time to address real problems and drills.
Check out Khan Academy, watch some videos or take some online tests from their “knowledge map,” with the granular data reports these guys are generating (and over a million users a month!), this might just become the internet version of Harvard!
